The environment where we live in can create and form many perspective of one thing and we are surrounded by the environment where people have double standards. These so called developed nations have different definitions of things for themselves and different for others. The most controversial topic which is prevailing in western societies since years is Hijab. There are many questions in the mind of non-Muslims regarding Hijab and they have formed their own definitions of it. There is a big role of western media which always plays a negative role in defining the Islam, women and Hijab. Western media makes fun of Muslim women wearing scarf they named it terrorism and have made it a symbol of terror while if a non-Muslim women wears a headscarf they called it as a trend.
Another thing which is entirely wrong from their side that they associate the Hijab with culture. Hijab is not related to any custom. It is a Islamic code of wearing dress and it is not a compulsion but an obligation which a Muslim women obeyed freely and happily. We Muslim women can never understand the dual standards of these western societies. At one when a non-Muslim women wear a long coat to protect herself from cold they called it necessary and also include it in fashion but when a Muslim women wear a long coat in the form of abaya why they called it a compulsion. Ask a Muslim woman who proudly loves to wear Hijab these western societies will get there answers.
Western women wear headscarves usually for protecting their hair from sun light in order to protect hair from damage. Then why they think different in the case of Muslim women.
A very good example one of my friends gave to me. She said as an orange is protected under its skin in the same way a woman is protected under the Hijab.
Hijab is the proud of Muslim women. Hijab is a cover shield for a Muslim woman. Do you have answer that why don’t they named it a fashion or trend when a Muslim woman wears a headscarf or abaya. Why they always criticize the Muslim clothing. Why they can’t be liberal regarding Muslim women. Why they don’t give space to Muslim women to define what the Hijab is for them.
There is a big why which I want to ask from these western societies. And same why have been asked from many years but still unanswered.
